What peace of mind can find a living here?
The news just will not stop, the tears, the cries,
Incessant lies! The public knows, and we despise
The commentators, do we not? Or, do we fear
The truth, and turn the other way when asked
If what comes down the pipe is truly past
Our understanding? Reasons? Are there tasks
Beyond endurance here, or is it first and last
A matter for the courts, the press, and cold reality
That simply comprehends some cosmic fact:
There's them that's got, and them that's wracked,
The rich, the poor, the lack of morals backed; atrocity
And blessings, ours to see, and ours to hear!
There's them that's got, all right, and them we all must fear!
