Speaking of friends, I’ll let you on a secret. I got my Defense Contractor pal Mitchell Wade to secretly kickback $700,000 to me. I sold my Del Mar Heights house November 2003 for $1,675,000 to Wade. We hid the sale through a sham corporation he created called “1523 New Hampshire Avenue LLC.” A month later, Wade put it on the market, but didn’t sold until the price was reduced eight months later. Wade sold my old home for its real value of $975,000, for a loss of $700,000. My pal Wade never moved in there, as he and his company, MZM Inc. are in Washington, D. C. In exchange, I helped Wade get lots of contracts for his MZM Inc. ($41 million in fiscal 2003) to triple MZM’s profits in 2004. This is “very, very classified” stuff, so I can’t talk about the contracts I gave him. People ask “is this a bribe?” I say no—I only took advantage of my friend Wade for $700,000.
Reducing government spending is fine, except if it hurts my "friends" (what’s a balanced budget?). Lets see, $44,600 from the gun lobby. Well, we do need those assault weapons. That’s why I told Project Vote Smart I wanted to repeal the ban on assault weapons, which would make it easier for criminals and terrorists to buy guns. Also, that Brady Handgun bill’s unreasonable anyway. Imagine! having to wait 5 days before buying a gun! What if someone wanted to kill someone in a hurry? You know the old saw: I support the right of unborn males to bear arms. Over the past decade I received $44,600 from the NRA, more than any other Congressmember except Rep. Young from Alaska.
In 2002, $150,000 to me came from the defense industry. So, lets burn money on projects not wanted by the Defense Department, just to make Cunningham's contributors/bribers rich.
I voted to use your tax dollars to subsidize tobacco growers. I also voted for tobacco crop insurance and voted against youth anti-smoking measures. But look at the bright side—I get lots of money from big tobacco companies.
Sugar is sweet and so am I.
I voted for protectionist measures for Sugar,
even though it increased the cost of
sugar at the grocery store?
Well, some say because my sugar friends have
have given thousands to sweeten my campaign “honey pot,”
but that’s just a coincidence.
