As a "politician" and a "public" representative Duke Cunningham has a duty to:

(1) respect peoples rights as people and
(2) listen to them as their opinions do matter.

I recently read a quote on Yahoo news that went like this:

"Ask the men and women who stood on top of the (World) Trade Center," said Rep. Randy (Duke) Cunningham, R-Calif. "Ask them and they will tell you: pass this amendment."

I am not by any means pro-flag burning or unpatriotic, but using the people who died on 9/11 to pass this amendment is the single most disrespectful thing I have ever heard. I'm not expecting him to care about what I'm saying, in fact he probably won't read this, but I as a citizen feel that he is leaping past the point of public representative to the land where the people means the US gov.
