Nope. Cunningham's shoot downs were confirmed by intel on the ground including that aircraft that did not return to their, or any NVA or Chinese air base.

One of the Humintelnet in the NVA air force was reputed to be an assistant chief of staff to one of the generals in the NVA air force.

Also the shoot downs were monitored by our own surface and airborne radars, and especially live monitoring of NVA air force and army communication channels for both communications between GCI and the NVA air force aircraft and the on the ground search teams that went looking for the wreckage and body parts or rescued the downed NVA pilot.

Cunningham's shoot downs are on the real.
